Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Flight Operations Auditor is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the airline’s operational safety, compliance, and quality assurance programs within Flight Operations and the Flight Training Program. This role supports the Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) and Safety Management System (SMS) by conducting audits, identifying risks, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and company standards. The position plays a critical role in maintaining operational integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across flight operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans, conducts, and documents internal audits of Flight Operations on behalf of the Internal Evaluation Program (IEP).
  • Audits the Flight Training Program to include curriculum, AQP flight training devices, training events, records etc.
  • Evaluates compliance with:
  • FAA / regulatory requirements (e.g., FAR Part 121)
  • Company policies and procedures
  • International standards (e.g., IOSA where applicable)
  • Assess effectiveness of operational controls and safety risk mitigations
  • Identifies operational hazards and areas of risk within Flight Operations
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of Safety Risk Management (SRM) controls through safety assurance.
  • Analyzes audit results and identifies trends, systemic issues, and improvement opportunities
  • Assists in publishing a Quarterly Audit report for Senior Leadership and the Accountable Executive.
  • Participates in and presents IEP results in the SMS data analysis group, standards board and company standards board meeting.
  • Assists with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).
  • Responds to special audit requests from senior management.
  • Ensure follow-up audits or evaluations are completed as required.
  • Maintains electronic databases to ensure the effective management of information and data associated with audits. (Intelex).
  • Responsible for the Company’s Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
  • Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Specifics

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Airline Transport Pilot.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least two years of experience in Part 121 Air Carrier Management.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong understanding of 14 CFR Part 5, Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English.
  • If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation or Aviation Safety.
  • Formal audit training and/or audit-related experience.
  • Check Airman experience.
  • Flight training experience.
  • Formal training in risk management.

Supervisory Responsibility: This is not a supervisory position.

Delegation: In absence, responsibilities delegated to Internal Evaluation Program Manager.

Authorities: None.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
