Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Unit Director/Manager, the Vascular Access Nurse responsibilities encompass assessment and placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), as well as routine management of peripheral IV catheters, PICCs, central venous catheters and midlines. To be a highly valued resource to educate and enhance IV skills of the overall nursing staff of UFHCF on a continuing basis. Monitor CLABSI data with Infection Control Nurse.

Qualifications

Education: - Diploma/Associates Degree in nursing or higher

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Florida Registered Nurse License
  • BLS

Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:

  • Expertise in Venous Access
  • Experience in PICC placement preferred
  • VA-BC preferred
  • Expertise with ultrasound guidance for vascular access
  • Competent with PICC navigation and Tip Location Device
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
