Overview The Production Team Leader for Plastics is responsible for leading all aspects of their assigned shifts. This includes associate training and work assignments, safety, quality, and productivity, mold changeover Improvement and assignments, OEE processes and requirements. The Production Team Leader will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and supervising activities during all 3 shifts within our Plastics operation with direct leadership responsibility for hourly Associates. They are expected to set the direction for each shift, help out in work centers based on business need, deliver operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, and cost, and drive continuous improvement activities. The role will achieve results through individual contribution, as well as leading and assisting manufacturing Associates with technical support, addressing safety/quality/downtime outages, and coaching/mentoring/training team members. Expected partnership and collaboration with Plant Engineering, Quality, Planning, Maintenance and Warehousing will drive the day. This role will operate on a flow to the work schedule working Monday through Friday, with varied hours to touch base with each shift throughout the week. When overtime is scheduled, starting/end times may vary during the week and/or weekend work may be required. There also may be times when the individual will need to assist on a different shift to cover for vacations. To be successful in this role, it is important to (1) be a team player who enjoys collaborating and working with others, (2) have a can-do attitude, be willing to help out and fill in for staffing gaps, and (3) demonstrate effective communication skills across all levels and comfortable providing positive and constructive feedback to others. Establishing plans for driving to KPI’s for the department will be critical to the success to support BISSELL Packaging requirements. Responsibilities Leads associates in the performance of daily operations. Owning and accountability for structured continuous improvement, changeover initiatives and OEE plant-floor Focus. Responsible for daily staff machine assignments, first article quality inspections, addressing immediate machines outages for resolution and promotes safety and quality. Ensures KPI’s for floor metrics are observed including run rates, efficiency and data collection. Communication with inbound or outbound shifts on lines status, quality or production issues or any safety matters that occurred. Works in conjunction with the Facilities & Safety team on all safety aspects related to the production of products. Leadership requirements of Driving Behavior Based Safety (BBS) to ensure observations are completed and handled with depth. Ensures that all safety policies are being adhered to and that associates are working safely and actively engaged in the safety program. Works in conjunction with the Quality Assurance team on all quality aspects related to the production of quality products. Ensures that all quality monitoring is being conducted and that products produced meet all quality standards. Coordinate visual quality standards as needed. Coordinates with the Planning team on all production needs to meet schedule requirements and provide the best use of personnel and equipment. Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Department to provide for the proper maintenance of equipment and facilities. Responsible for maintenance contact to resolve issues. Partners with Plant Engineering to drive process improvements, data collection and visibility, tooling and equipment obsolescence plan, new capital projects and training events. Responsible for the administration of company policies and procedures. Provides real time feedback and documents conversations. Works within progressive discipline. Responsible for Associate time tracking, reviewing timecards and approving vacations. Participates in new associate interviews and provides input to Plant Leadership on new hires. Works in conjunction with Human Resources and Plant leadership on all associate performance appraisals, merit and promotional increases, and disciplinary actions. Identifies training needs and coordinates training activities to address those needs. Coordinates with training staff to provide allotted time for required training. Works overtime as required to support customer requirements and vacation coverage for other team members. Coordinates with leadership team on temporary staffing needs, positioning of temporary staff and performance of team members. Assists floor associates in the areas of set-up duties, problem-solving, and periodic role coverage as needed. May be required to perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION Degree minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent Specific concentration: Manufacturing environment Experience level: 2-4 years SPECIALIZED TRAINING/EDUCATION PREFERRED Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business, Science, or Engineering Experience in Plastics extrusion or injection molding Familiarity with Oracle software, data collection and analysis software - Preferred SKILLS REQUIRED Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook and Excel Organizational development experience Supervisory experience preferred Hilo (Forklift) Certification/License (BISSELL will provide if needed) Leads associates in the performance of daily operations.
