The GSE Mechanic with HVAC and T7 skills is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling a wide range of ground support equipment used in aviation and heavy industry. This role requires proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems, as well as thermodynamic systems, to ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled vehicles and ground support equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
- Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled and ground support equipment (commercial and Military) to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
- Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components.
- Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls components and accessories.
- Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
- Operates, cleans, inspects, and services wheeled and ground support equipment for maintenance purposes.
- Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
- Additional responsibilities include working with a variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure testers and electrical testers to name a few.
- Thermodynamic Systems (T7), troubleshoot and repair thermodynamic systems, including compressors, heat exchangers, and related controls
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
- Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
- Extensive use of basic shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, air tools, and lifting devices.
- Steel Toe shoes are required. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted. Such PPE includes, but is not limited to :Face Mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices.
- Periodic use of computer systems and multi-function devices (MFD).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic condition.
- Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolong sitting and occasional working in cramped and awkward position.
- Frequent exposure to conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.
- A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week). Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
- Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs, as well as bend, twist, and squad for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to pull, push and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Function in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three (3) to six (6) years of experience in wheeled and Ground support equipment maintenance or an equivalent.
- ASE, HVAC, A&P, FAA, EPA Universal, and T7 certification desirable
- Applicant must furnish their own serviceable tools that are Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant, tools according to OSHA Reg 1910, SUB PAR P, that are appropriate for their required duties.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Must have a valid REAL ID State Driver’s License with no restrictions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
- Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.
- Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation.
EXPERIENCE
- Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military/civilian wheeled and ground support equipment.
- Must be proficient in electrical troubleshooting and repair of ground support equipment such as mobile electric power plants and other self-propelled/non self-propelled equipment.
- Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.
