The Ground Support Equipment Lead Inspector (GSELI) Mechanic is responsible of the day-to-day maintenance activities, the diagnostics, inspections and repairs for military equipment, wheeled, power generation and ground support equipment. Works along with team members and sets the pace.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES
- GSE Lead Inspector will direct the work of other mechanics and provide support to maintenance team to ensure satisfactory levels of customer service are maintained for internal and external customers.
- Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled and ground support equipment (commercial and Military) to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
- Uses automated Logistics Information System to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains wheeled and grounding systems.
- Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components.
- Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
- Operates, cleans, inspects, and services wheeled and ground support equipment for maintenance purposes.
- Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
- Additional responsibilities include working with a variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure testers and electrical testers to name a few.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
- Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
- Extensive use of basic shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, air tools, and lifting devices.
- Steel Toe shoes are required.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted.
- Such PPE includes, but is not limited to: Face Mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices.
- Periodic use of computer systems and multi-function devices (MFD).
- Face mask that covers the nose and mouth is required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic condition.
- Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolong sitting and occasional working in cramped and awkward position.
- Frequent exposure to conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.
- A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week).
- Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
- Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs, as well as bend, twist, and squad for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to pull, push and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Function in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three (3) to six (6) years of experience in wheeled and Ground support equipment maintenance or an equivalent.
- Should have three (3) years of leadership experience within medium-sized military support organizations in the areas of maintenance, supply and services, as well as Army governing regulations, policies and procedures.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must have a valid REAL ID State Driver’s License with no restrictions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
- Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.
- Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation.
EXPERIENCE
- Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military/civilian wheeled and ground support equipment.
- Must be proficient in electrical troubleshooting and repair of ground support equipment such as mobile electric power plants and other self-propelled/non self-propelled equipment.
- Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.
- Must be familiar with GCSS- Army program.
