Job description
As the Clinical Team Leader, you will provide clinical and operational leadership to a multidisciplinary healthcare team, ensuring detainees receive timely, safe, and high-quality healthcare services. You will work closely with the Health Service Manager to oversee service delivery, support staff development, manage clinical risks, and promote positive health outcomes.
This role combines leadership responsibilities with clinical practice and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a unique healthcare environment.

Join us in bringing a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day delivery of primary healthcare services.
- Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to a multidisciplinary team.
- Oversee intake, assessment, care planning, referrals, and ongoing healthcare coordination.
- Ensure timely access to medical, nursing, allied health, and drug and alcohol services.
- Monitor and maintain high standards of clinical governance, documentation, and compliance.
- Identify service delivery issues and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage staffing resources, rosters, and clinical supplies effectively.
- Lead clinical review meetings, case conferences, and multidisciplinary discussions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support staff through supervision, mentoring, training, and professional development.
- Contribute to policy development, service planning, and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain a personal clinical caseload as required.
Let’s talk about you:
You will be a Registered Nurse with current unrestricted AHPRA registration (Division 1) and a relevant postgraduate qualification. You will bring a minimum of five years' clinical nursing experience within an operational healthcare setting, along with demonstrated leadership experience in primary health, correctional health, community health, or another complex healthcare environment. You will have a strong understanding of clinical governance, risk management, and continuous quality improvement, coupled with excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills. You will be confident leading multidisciplinary teams, driving positive service outcomes, and managing complex situations using sound problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills. Additionally, you will possess strong computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical record systems.
