Job description
A director level leadership opportunity with AECOM’s established team of 35 Transmission & Distribution engineers and designers based in Wellington I Te Whanganui-a-Tara. In this role, you will have plenty of scope and autonomy to make a difference by providing leadership, guidance and direction to the team. You will also have scope to continue to apply your technical, verification, design, project delivery or client relationship management capabilities with scope to shape this role to align with your background and expertise.
You will be leading a broad team of electrical engineers, designers and delivery managers from those who have newly joined AECOM as graduates, through to very experienced technical professionals well known in the industry. You will be part of AECOM’s Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business line including the NZ T&D leadership team, working collaboratively with your peers and other leaders in Australia, and globally as required. Being part of AECOM’s T&D business line enables you and the team to bring together Global Expertise, with Local Experience building on a reputation of technical and project excellence.
Our manager roles are broad, challenging and varied with oversight across the team’s future work pipeline, client relationships, people development (including retention and recruitment), delivery KPIs, and commercial outcomes. Balancing competing priorities across client, project, team and commercial considerations is a key part of this role.
As Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping and strengthening team culture across a group of experienced specialists, with a focus on purpose, capability, excellence, collaboration, diversity, and teamwork to deliver innovative, client-focused outcomes.
Developing, mentoring, and attracting great talent is a core focus, alongside ensuring accountability and achieving strong commercial and financial performance.
Reporting to the T&D Sector Lead for NZ, this role is based in AECOM’s Wellington I Te Whanganui-a-tara office. Learn more about AECOM’s T&D business by clicking this link.
To be successful in this Manager role, you will be an experienced people leader known for your ability to lead and develop an established team of engineering specialists. You will inspire a positive working environment and be known as a leader who ‘sets the bar’ empowering a team to achieve client, project and technical outcomes.
Importantly, you will be an advocate for the T&D team, with the ability to coach, guide and develop leaders in their T&D engineering and design fields of expertise. You will enjoy a challenge, be action focussed, display the ability to balance competing time commitments, and be comfortable with making commercial judgments. Experience in a people or team leader role will be a significant advantage; however the role can suit delivery, technical or client focused individuals who can demonstrate the people, business and leadership skills needed for this role. You will also have T&D design, technical, project delivery or client relationship management capabilities and a desire to continue your growth across one (or some) of these areas. Experience working with and understanding key T&D client requirements will be beneficial.
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.
