Description
Purpose
The Endoscopy Technician serves as a member of the Ambulatory Surg ery Center (“Center”) team, responds to patient needs, prepares / maintains resources (e.g., equipment, instruments, supplies) & provides safe, quality health care services & / or assistance for non-surgical endoscopy procedure s in accordance with level of experience, education , policies / procedures / protocols & standards.
Note: “patients” refers to patients, clients, residents, participants, customer s, members

Functional Role (not inclusive of titles or advancement career progression)
Tech / S upport III – skilled : Licensed , unlicensed, certified , uncertified role (direct healthcare) that s upports non-surgical endoscopy routine & complex invasive diagnostic & therapeutic procedure & process es ; Accountable for equipment, supplies , room set up & assisting in run ning equipment during procedures; Provides patient care to patients as directed by the Director of Nursing / Medical Director / Quality Committee(s) ; A ssists in patient intake, transport , placement of monitoring devices & sample collection / preparation ; Establishes & maintains a safe & clean procedural room suite & sterile field; Adheres to high level disinfecting standards for reprocessing endoscopes & follows manufacturer’s guidelines ; S terilizes equipment after procedures & ensures equipment is maintained in ready working order; Performs quality testing & a s sists & / or ensures documentation & detailed records are kept & hand-off reports are accurate / concise / pertinent ; Distributes information regarding equipment or instruments at in-service / training sessions; P erforms essential duties & techniques appropriate to role / function / procedure ; Participates in quality improvement processes & continuous surveillance, rounding or monitoring for safety ; May serve as a resource (lead), role model & / or mentor.
Minimum Qualifications
H igh S chool diploma or GED ; At least two (2) years endoscopy or ambulatory surgery experience ; Meets requirements for applicable state(s) of engagement.
Additional Qualifications (nice to have)
Associate degree in medical assisting or surgical technology ; Endoscopy technician program certification ; Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor certification .
