  • Scoresby location - Hybrid work - Once settled into position, the minimum commitment in the office is 1 day per week - can shift depending on commitments
  • Some local travel may be required to support customer reviews and for technical investigations
  • Full-time or Part-time (Min 4 days) opportunities considered

An exciting opportunity exists to join a team focused on sustaining and introducing new capabilities into service for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Systems supported include:

  • Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)
  • Ruggedised Portable Computing Systems
  • Weather Stations and Weather RADAR equipment
  • Hydrographic survey systems

Your New Role and Responsibilities

Our Electrical Engineers maintain and evolve the product baseline and structures for multiple delivered sub-systems. They also assist in the smooth transition of new capabilities into service.

Reporting to the Technical Lead, the Electrical Engineer will

  • Design, develop and integrate electronic and electrical subsystems for defence maritime applications 
  • Support system integration activities, including interface definition and verification 
  • Conduct engineering analysis, trade studies and technical investigations 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and electronic hardware issues during development and integration 
  • Prepare Applications for Deviations and Engineering Change Proposals to rectify detected defects/problems and improve approved system baselines
  • Manage/Develop technical documentation defining systems configuration and design process
  • Provide technical advice to Leidos maintenance team and end users of the system
  • Provide inputs into potential enhancements to the system

What You'll Bring to Make an Impact

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Systems Engineering experience, preferably within the Defence industry
  • Involvement in detailed design development and equipment acquisition/sustainment of systems
  • An understanding of the key elements/phases of Systems Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support activities necessary to maintain the systems
  • Experience developing engineering artefacts (Applications for Deviation, Problem Reports, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), engineering investigation reports, specialist engineering design, etc.)
  • Experience in risk and hazard identification/management within a regulatory environment
