Summary:
We are currently seeking a Labour Relations Manager, EMEA to join our People team in Barcelona. This is a first-of-its-kind, high-ownership individual contributor role responsible for building and anchoring Clio's Labour Relations and Employee Relations function in EMEA. You will be the primary expert for all Spanish labour law obligations across Clio's Spanish group — Works Council and union engagement, collective bargaining, and mandatory compliance programs — while also providing dedicated Employee Relations support across the EMEA region.
You will work closely with People Business Partners, Legal, Finance, Senior Leaders and external counsel to build a robust labour relations function in EMEA, in a fast-paced and scaling environment.
What you'll work on:
Labour Relations Strategy:
Shape and drive a forward-looking labour relations strategy for EMEA (main Focus: Spain), grounded in Clio's people philosophy and aligned with our business priorities. Anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and ensure our labour relations approach reflects our values.
Employee Representative & Union Engagement:
Act as Clio's main point of contact with employee representatives (Comité de Empresa / Delegados de Personal) and trade unions in Spain, fostering constructive relationships built on open dialogue and mutual trust. Own and manage all legally required information and consultation processes with works councils.
Collective Bargaining & CBA Management: Lead the negotiation, interpretation, and ongoing administration of applicable Convenios Colectivos in Spain, ensuring alignment with both business needs and employee interests.
Labour Law Compliance & Risk:
Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements. Proactively identify exposure areas and develop mitigation plans before issues arise.
Trusted Advisor to Leadership: Partner closely with senior leaders, legal, external labour law counsel, and People Business Partners to navigate the people implications of business decisions, always grounding recommendations in local law and Clio's values.
People Compliance Programs:
Lead the end-to-end governance of mandatory people compliance obligations across EMEA, with a main focus on the Spanish group — including the Plan de Igualdad, salary audits, gender pay gap reporting, the Protocol against Harassment, and the LGBTI+ Plan.
Policy Ownership:
Design, implement, and keep current the internal people policies and procedures applicable to EMEA, ensuring they reflect the latest legal requirements and support a fair, inclusive workplace.
People Manager Education: Build and deliver practical training for managers and the People team on labour compliance, collective agreements, and employee relations — helping them navigate the EMEA context with confidence.
Insights & Reporting:
Monitor key labour relations indicators and employee relations trends, translating data into meaningful insights and clear recommendations for People and business leadership.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree in Employment Law, Industrial Relations, or a related field. Master’s degree or HR certification preferred.
8+ years of experience in Labor Relations, Employment Law, HR Compliance with deep expertise in Spanish labor law: Estatuto de los Trabajadores, collective bargaining framework (Convenios Colectivos), works council regulations (Comités de Empresa), equality legislation, and recent regulatory developments.
Demonstrated experience managing or negotiating with employee representatives and/or trade unions in Spain.
Experience working in multinational companies in the technology industry, specifically in high growth stage to public company
Ability to thrive in a matrixed, multicultural, and fast-paced environment.
Fluent in English; additional EMEA languages are a plus.
