Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in the Washington DC area, approximately 45 minutes south of DC. This on-site contract position requires dedication to supporting students with visual impairments within local school settings.
Location:
Woodbridge, VA (Washington DC Area)
Assignment Details:
• Contract position with an immediate start, ending on 5/29/26
• Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
• Caseload averages about 22 students per teacher
• Number of schools assigned to be determined
Qualifications:
• Active Virginia Department of Education Certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Must be able to pass Virginia Department of Social Services background check immediately
• Required TB test per Virginia state regulations
• Experience levels considered from entry to 10+ years
Responsibilities:
• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and specialists to optimize learning outcomes
• Monitor and document student progress regularly
• Utilize adaptive teaching methods and assistive technology
