Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Woodbridge, Virginia
Job description
A full-time opportunity is available for a qualified Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving students in the Washington DC area, approximately 45 minutes south of the city. This position requires on-site instruction with no hybrid or remote options.
Responsibilities:
• Provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students, managing an average caseload of 22 students.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
• Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure effective education strategies and resources.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with all state and school regulations related to special education services.
Qualifications:
• Active Virginia Department of Education (DOE) certification in Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
• Ability to clear the Virginia Department of Social Services background check promptly.
• Compliance with Virginias tuberculosis testing requirement.
• Experience working with school-age children with visual impairments.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
Location:
• On-site in the Washington DC metropolitan area, within commuting distance from Woodbridge, VA.
Schedule:
• Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
• Contract position through May 29, 2026, starting as soon as possible.
