Position Description
This position is responsible for site supervision of hydro power plant equipment installations, upgrades and maintenance.
The primary role of the Technical Representative is to supervise and perform turbine installations or repairs on project sites or in repair shops. The position requires daily emails with the customer, Operations, and Engineering to update the job. The Technical Representative is responsible for communicating the job schedule both internally and to the customer. The position requires frequent travel to project sites to supervise, fabricate, disassemble, repair, and reassemble turbine components as needed.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform the disassembly, repair, dimension collection, and reassembly of components in the field or shop.
• Perform welding, machining, and fabrication projects using common welding and cutting process and equipment.
• Perform supervisory duties on projects sites or in the shop by managing internal employees and subcontractors.
• Perform millwright job functions on project sites or shop as required.
• Perform precision measurements, rigging, crane operation, turbine assembly, etc.
• Perform cavitation repairs to turbine components in shop and project sites.
• Perform supervisory computer work including but not limited to daily reports, Intelex safety reports, pre-task safety meetings, scheduling, credit card reports.
• Communicate directly with project managers, safety managers, and engineers daily to ensure the project is progressing in a safe manner with attention to quality, schedule, and budget. These calls, texts, and emails are a critical part of the job, and these communications are expected multiple times on a daily basis.
• Review staffing, tooling, and work tasks daily to identify potential risks that may affect safety, schedule, or budget. Identifying shortcomings early can help the team to redirect efforts and solve a problem in real time, sometimes before there is even an issue.
• Travel will be required.
Job Qualifications
• High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED)
• 5 or more years of construction experience, hydroelectric turbine manufacturing or field service experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and instructions
• Ability to measure parts and read precision tools such as micrometers or dial indicators
• Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric industrial tools.
• Computer Technology skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products
• Basic knowledge of overhead crane rigging and techniques, NCCO rigging / crane operator certifications preferred
• Experience driving and operating construction equipment such as trucks, overhead cranes, trailers, forklifts, man lifts etc. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
• Steel plate / pipe fabrication skills and experience in oxy fuel / plasma torch cutting, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding processes –Welding certifications preferred
