Fleet Technician

Job Summary of Fleet Technician:

You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency of our vehicles. Performing preventive maintenance inspections, repairs, and expert diagnosis, you’ll minimize breakdowns on the road, reduce vehicle downtime, and enhance overall fleet reliability.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Fleet Technician:
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances.
• Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Complete quality preventive maintenance inspections on tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, lift-gates, and other Sysco-owned equipment.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions on various vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
• Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups promptly and efficiently.
• Mentor and share expertise with junior Fleet Technicians to aid in their development.
• Proficiently conduct electrical meter testing and complete electrical repairs as needed.
• Maintain expertise in all vehicle systems and components, as well as DOT and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience of Fleet Technician:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training or equivalent experience.
• 2-year school and 4 years of experience OR 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
• Certifications in Annual Inspector, Brake Inspector, ASE, and EPA Section 608 & 609 HVAC & Refrigeration preferred.
• Proficiency in vehicle diagnostics and repair, welding, and computer-based diagnostic software.
• Ability to provide and maintain own tools necessary for maintenance and repair work.
