Schedule: Monday through Friday
The Artificial Intelligence Solutions Architect serves as the organization's recognized subject matter expert in AI/ML architecture, enterprise AI strategy, and intelligent automation technologies. This role operates with limited oversight from senior leadership, independently designing and directing enterprise-wide AI initiatives. The incumbent manages large-scale, complex AI programs with significant organizational impact and mentors technical staff to provide authoritative guidance on emerging AI technologies to executive leadership.This individual serves as the authoritative voice on AI/ML strategy, architecture patterns, and implementation approaches.
Responsibilities
• Define and own the enterprise AI/ML architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry best practices
• Architect and design complex, production-grade AI systems including RAG platforms, agentic AI frameworks, multi-model orchestration, and conversational AI solutions
• Lead technical evaluation and selection of AI platforms, tools, and vendors (e.g., Databricks, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock)
• Establish architectural standards, design patterns, and governance frameworks for AI/ML development
• Provide authoritative technical guidance to executive leadership on AI capabilities, risks, and strategic opportunities
• Lead large-scale AI implementation programs from concept through production deployment with minimal executive oversight
• Resolve highly complex technical challenges involving system integration, scalability, performance optimization, and AI model governance
• Design solutions for difficult problems in AI security, bias mitigation, explainability, and regulatory compliance (NCUA, financial services)
• Lead cross-functional initiatives involving multiple departments, external vendors, and strategic partners
• Make autonomous decisions on technical direction, resource allocation, and implementation approach for AI initiatives
• Mentor AI team members, guiding technical skills, career development, and best practices
• Review and approve architectural designs, code implementations, and technical documentation produced by team members
• Delegate implementation tasks appropriately while maintaining accountability for technical quality and outcomes
• Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions, technical presentations, and training programs for IT staff and business stakeholders
• Establish coding standards, review processes, and quality gates for AI development work
• Maintain expert-level knowledge of emerging AI/ML technologies, evaluating applicability to credit union operations
• Represent the organization at industry conferences, technical forums, and vendor advisory boards
• Publish technical documentation, architectural decision records, and best practice guides
• Drive proof-of-concept initiatives to validate emerging technologies and innovative approaches
• Lead enterprise AI programs, including multi-year roadmaps, cross-functional implementations, and vendor partnerships
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
• Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
• Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employees' role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related technical field
• Master's degree or equivalent advanced education/certifications preferred
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in software architecture, with at least 5 years focused on AI/ML systems
• Demonstrated track record designing and deploying enterprise-scale AI solutions in production environments
• Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers in AI/ML development
• Experience in financial services, credit unions, or similarly regulated industries preferred
• History of working autonomously on strategic initiatives with limited oversight
• Expert-level proficiency in AI/ML platforms (Databricks, Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, or equivalent)
• Advanced expertise in LLM architectures, RAG systems, vector databases, and agentic AI patterns
• Advanced knowledge of NLP, conversational AI, and voice banking technologies
• Strong background in MLOps, model lifecycle management, and AI governance
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud-native architectures
• Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
• Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
• Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and often complex problems or situations
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
• Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
• Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
• Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties
