Job Description:
The Emerging Store Manager (ESM) supports the Store Manager in the daily operations of the pharmacy and retail store. This includes managing front-end operations, supervising team members, and ensuring a high standard of customer service. The ESM is responsible for running the store in the absence of the Store Manager and plays a key role in driving business performance and team development.
Roles and Duties:
• Supervise customer service associates and designated hitters; manage scheduling and task delegation.
• Engage and assist customers, resolve complaints, and model best customer service practices.
• Lead and coach team members to improve service and operational efficiency.
• Analyze financial and performance data to develop action plans for store growth.
• Support inventory control, including resets, revisions, and price changes.
• Ensure store cleanliness, safety, and compliance with all policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with external partners and explore community outreach opportunities.
• Serve as a pharmacy technician during peak times if licensed.
Training:
• Successfully complete the Store Manager learning and development program.
• Participate in all required leadership and development training, including Walgreens Leadership Essentials (LEAP).
• Maintain a valid pharmacy technician license as required by state regulations.
• Create and follow an Individual Development Plan for continuous self-improvement.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in any field OR successful completion of the Walgreens Community Internship Program OR High School Diploma/GED and two years in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership, communication, and business acumen.
• Completion of or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of start.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking), except in Puerto Rico.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
• Willingness to accept promotion into Store Manager role, potentially requiring relocation.
• Ability to transfer to other Walgreens retail locations within the hiring area.
