Game Design Portfolio Instructor (Part-Time / Contract)
Job description
Responsibilities
• Guide high school students in developing game design and game art portfolios for college applications.
• Teach core concepts including game design fundamentals, character design, environment design, world-building, and visual storytelling.
• Help students develop original portfolio projects that demonstrate creativity, concept development, and technical skills.
• Provide structured feedback and support students in refining their work to meet art school and university portfolio standards.
• Assist students with portfolio presentation and project documentation for applications.
• Mentor students throughout the creative process from concept to final portfolio pieces.
Qualifications
• Degree or professional background in Game Design, Game Art, Interactive Media, Animation, Digital Art, or related fields.
• Experience with tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, Maya, Photoshop, or similar software.
• Strong understanding of game design principles, visual development, and storytelling.
• Experience teaching, mentoring, or coaching students is preferred.
• Ability to guide high school students in building creative and structured portfolio projects.
• Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working with young creatives.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience helping students apply to art schools or game design programs.
• Professional experience in the game or digital media industry.
• Familiarity with portfolio expectations for programs in Game Design, Digital Media, Animation, or Interactive Arts.
Compensation
Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
