AI Software Engineer - Full Stack

A nonprofit leader is hiring an AI Software Engineer in Alexandria, VA for a full-time position, onsite 2 days per week.

AI Software Engineer Requirements:
• US citizenship with the ability to obtain security clearance if required.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 1+ years of web application development experience in production environments.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL or NoSQL databases, and REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud fundamentals, with AWS preferred.
• Foundational understanding of LLM concepts including prompting, context windows, RAG, and fine-tuning.
• Strong commitment to building secure, modular, maintainable, and high-quality software.

AI Software Engineer Responsibilities:
• Build and ship full-stack web applications that consume LLM APIs.
• Design and implement RAG pipelines, prompt optimization strategies, and cost-efficient inference workflows.
• Own features end-to-end across frontend, backend, and cloud deployment.
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams to translate complex requirements into scalable systems.
• Maintain secure development practices and troubleshoot issues with clear communication and resolution planning.
