Position: Piper Welder Assistant
Location: Frederick, MD 21704
Shift: 2nd (2 openings, one on 1st shift and one on 2nd shift)
Pay: $20.00/Hour - 2nd Shift pays a $3.00/Hour Shift Differential
Full-Time - 8 hours Monday to Friday
Hours: 2:30pm - 11:00pm
Interview: In Person
Ability to Commute to Frederick, MD

Job Summary of the Piper Welder Assistant:

We are seeking a dedicated Piper Welder Assistant. In this role, you will support welding operations by preparing materials, assisting skilled welders, and ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained throughout the fabrication process. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with construction site experience and a strong interest in welding and fabrication. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to teamwork. This is a hands-on position to learn the process of assembly and installation of pipes in units by performing the following duties in reasonable and productive frames:

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
• Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/8th inch.
• Must be able to follow verbal, written and pictorial instructions.
• Must be able to use hand tools.
• Cuts, threads, and bends pipe with a Hydraulic Pipe Bender
• Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper and plastic.
• Ability to use acetylene and oxygen torch set.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Train and work in multiple types of manufacturing positions (i.e. assembly, paint, wire and weld).
• Assist welders with setup, positioning, and securing of piping and sheet metal components.
• Support pipe threading, assembly, rigging, and mechanical fitting activities.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• 2 years of Hand tools and power tools experience
• 1- 3 Years of related experience or training
• Ability to read and understand English Instructions
• Ability to speak effectively with employees of organization
• Ability to do basic math in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Prior experience working on construction sites or in manufacturing environments involving piping or metal fabrication
• Mechanical knowledge of pipe threading, assembly, rigging, and soldering processes
• Ability to remain in a stationary position
• Ability to reach, stool, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and balance
• Strong attention to detail combined with good communication skills
• Willingness to learn new skills related to welding support activities
• Ability to heavy lift and/or move up to 50lbs
• High School Diploma or GED Work.
• Pass a background check and drug test.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
