Cyber Systems Engineer / Information System Security Officer (ISSO)
Location: Annapolis Junction, MD
Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Peraton is seeking a Cyber Systems Engineer / Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support our Cyber Missions team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will help maintain the security posture of complex systems supporting national security missions while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and information assurance requirements.
The selected candidate will support system security engineering activities, accreditation efforts, and ongoing security operations in highly secure environments.
What You'll Do
As a Cyber Systems Engineer / ISSO, you will support the full lifecycle of system security and engineering activities across mission environments.
Responsibilities include:
• Serve as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) supporting mission systems and maintaining compliance with cybersecurity requirements.
• Analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
• Analyze system requirements and contribute to system design and development activities.
• Guide users in formulating technical requirements, advising us on alternative approaches and conducting feasibility studies.
• Provide technical leadership supporting integration of requirements, design, and technology across systems.
• Support incorporation of new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing development and operational environments.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting system engineering and cybersecurity activities.
• Review, interpret, and update system architecture and system design documentation.
Assist with development of system engineering artifacts such as:
• System Engineering Plans
• Initial Capabilities Documents
• Requirements specifications
• Interface Control Documents
• Support system development and implementation planning through preparation of System Engineering Plans and System Integration and Test Plans.
• Work directly with Government stakeholders regarding systems engineering technical considerations and issue resolution.
• Support system configuration management processes and maintain development, test, and production configuration baselines.
• Implement and maintain hardware and software version control processes, policies, and procedures
• Assist in maintaining development environments supporting build, staging, testing, and system integration
• Support development and modification of procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of systems
• Assist with defining and implementing hardware and software configuration management processes.
• Assist tool users with workflow configuration and expanding the use of supported program tools.
• Support operational teams through JIRA ticket queue management and ticket triage for system and security issues.
Security & Compliance Responsibilities:
• Support Certification & Accreditation (C&A) / RMF activities for mission systems.
• Perform vulnerability and risk assessments to identify and mitigate system security risks.
• Support continuous monitoring activities including security log review and incident response support.
Maintain and update required security documentation including:
• System Security Plans (SSPs)
• Risk Assessment Reports
• Certification & Accreditation (C&A) packages
• Security Control Traceability / SRTM documentation
• Security assessment documentation and POA&M tracking
Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph required
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) years of relevant Systems Engineering experience.
• Master's degree in a related discipline and eight (8) years of relevant Systems Engineering experience.
• Doctorate degree in a related discipline and six (6) years of relevant Systems Engineering experience.
• Fourteen (14) years of relevant Systems Engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Experience monitoring system performance, availability, scalability, and manageability for mid-to-large scale systems.
• Experience developing technical documentation for operational issues, procedures, or training.
• Experience working within Agile and/or Spiral development environments.
• Certifications: DoD 8570 IAM Level I or higher.

Target Salary Range
$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
