Position Overview
At Constellation – the nation's largest producer of clean, carbon‐free energy – we are dedicated to accelerating the transition to a carbon‐free future. Our data science team plays a pivotal role in extracting actionable insights from large and complex datasets. In this role, you will work closely with internal stakeholders, data engineers, and IT partners to turn data into critical information that informs decision making and enhances operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop key predictive models to reduce annual expenses and optimize performance criteria across nuclear and energy operations.
- Analyze data using advanced analytics techniques and modern frameworks (e.g., Python, R, Scala, Spark, Hadoop) to support process improvement initiatives.
- Access, enrich, and analyze data from various Company systems and data warehouses, building high-performance computing systems as needed.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to translate business needs into data science projects.
- Provide expert data and analytics support while ensuring findings are communicated clearly to business partners and executives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Quantitative discipline (Data Science, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or related field).
- Between 5-8 years of relevant experience with hypothesis development, machine learning algorithms, and analysis of large datasets.
- Proficiency in at least two areas: machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical modeling, data mining, information retrieval, or data visualization.
- Proven experience developing and deploying predictive analytics projects using leading languages (Python, R, Scala, etc.).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable business recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in Python-based data science, including ML model development, generative AI (LLMs), prompt engineering, and end-to-end pipeline automation using tools like Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a Quantitative discipline.
- Exposure to data structures related to power generating plant equipment and performance data in the nuclear or broader energy sector.
- Expert coding skills (Python, R, Scala, SQL etc.) with proficiency in managing and querying large datasets across various data platforms.
- Ability to translate executive vision into data strategies while managing time effectively and presenting clear insights.
