Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description

As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for performing electrical testing and validation of switchgear assemblies at our manufacturing facility to ensure safety, quality, functionality, and overall conformity of products. You will execute testing to confirm safety, quality, and functional conformity prior to shipment, and work closely with various teams to build quality products. Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical testing and validation of switchgear assemblies.
  • Execute testing to confirm safety, quality, and functional conformity prior to shipment.
  • Read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Operate and maintain test equipment, including volt meters, breaker test kits, Dielectric testers, and torque wrenches.
  • Validate proper operation of AC/DC circuits, transformers, fusing, relays, and circuit breakers.
  • Document test results and communicate issues or non-conformances to engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Follow and promote safe electrical work practices within a manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Wiring, Bus, and Assembly teams to build quality products.
  • Learn, understand, and comply with safety and other emergency practices. Essential Skills
  • Proficient understanding of AC/DC Electrical Theory.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Understanding of transformers, fusing, ice cube relays, and other common electrical control components.
  • Proficient in operating test equipment such as volt meters, breaker test kits, and Dielectric testers.
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems for software navigation and file management.
  • Basic understanding of operation of Circuit Breakers from various manufacturers.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Skilled in using various hand tools and power tools relevant to the electrical trade. Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in testing switchgear controls or similar control systems.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interact with peers and management effectively.
  • Solid knowledge of electronics and efficient communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining high quality.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with various switchgear types (e.g., metal-clad, medium voltage, low voltage).
  • Experience with PLC wiring and network communication setup.
  • Knowledge of UL891, UL 508A, or UL 1558 standards. Work Environment

This role is 100% onsite at our manufacturing shop in Raleigh, NC, focused on testing, validating, and ensuring compliance of switchgear systems prior to delivery. The position involves working on mostly concrete floors and requires the ability to work in low and high positions for extended periods. You must be able to lift 40lbs and manipulate heavy test equipment and cables. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.00/hr.
