Role and Responsibilities

As a Support Teacher at Primrose School of Harmony, you will assist in guiding young learners through structured and engaging activities while supporting the lead teacher in daily classroom operations. You will help create a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes children’s overall development according to the Primrose Balanced Learning® approach.

  • Assist the lead teacher in supervising and managing a classroom of children.
  • Support the implementation of age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
  • Observe children and document developmental progress to inform teaching strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
  • Support individualized learning needs and encourage positive social interactions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and leadership to create a cohesive learning environment.
  • Lift and handle children safely during classroom activities, including infants and toddlers as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of early childhood development, including social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and safely handle children in classroom activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, leadership, and families.
  • Experience in early childhood education or childcare settings preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow classroom routines and guidance from lead teachers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a teacher or assistant teacher in a licensed early childhood program.
  • Coursework or certification in Early Childhood Education or related fields.
  • Knowledge of the Balanced Learning® curriculum or similar child development programs.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Passion for supporting children’s growth and learning in a collaborative team environment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $10.00 - $11.50 per hour (may vary by franchise owner).
