We're looking for a Senior Manager, ASIC Development Engineering to lead an SOC development team in Irvine, United States. In this strategic role, you will manage high-performing engineering teams, and drive innovation in hardware design. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with decisive leadership, ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge semiconductor solutions while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and mentor a team of ASIC design engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
- Analyze complex technical requirements and translate them into actionable design specifications and development strategies
- Oversee design verification, validation, and testing processes to ensure products meet performance, power, and area specifications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, manufacturing, and quality assurance to align engineering efforts with business objectives
- Establish and enforce design methodologies, standards, and best practices across the engineering organization
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success
- Drive process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance design efficiency and product quality
- Manage resource allocation and technical budgets while optimizing team productivity
- Communicate project status, technical challenges, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape in semiconductor design
REQUIRED
- 5+ years of management or leadership experience in engineering environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of RTL design, design verification, and simulation methodologies
- Strong knowledge of EDA tools and design automation platforms
- Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDL) such as Verilog or VHDL
- Excellent project management skills with proven ability to deliver complex projects on schedule
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams
- Experience managing P&L and technical budgets

- Experience with advanced semiconductor design methodologies and design standards
- Knowledge of power analysis, timing closure, and physical design considerations
- Familiarity with agile or lean development practices in hardware engineering
- Background in risk management and strategic planning
- Experience in a fast-paced, innovation-driven semiconductor organization
- Track record of successfully building and scaling high-performing engineering teams
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles

Compensation & Benefits Details
- An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
- The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
- If your position is non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws. You may also be eligible for shift differential pay, depending on the shift to which you are assigned.
You will be eligible to be considered for bonuses under either WD’s Short Term Incentive Plan (“STI Plan”) or the Sales Incentive Plan (“SIP”) which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance, depending on your role and your performance. You may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to WD's Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
