Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical HSE Officer (Roads O&M) to join our team in Doha, Qatar. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance in our roads operations and maintenance projects.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures for roads operations and maintenance projects
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing comprehensive reports and recommending preventive measures
- Provide HSE training and guidance to employees, contractors, and visitors on site
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international HSE regulations and standards, particularly those applicable to Qatar
- Develop and maintain environmental management systems to minimize the environmental impact of road maintenance activities
- Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution
- Prepare and present HSE performance reports to management, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement
- Manage and maintain HSE documentation, including permits, certifications, and training records
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging HSE trends in roads operations and maintenance
- Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
- NEBOSH certification or equivalent HSE qualification
- Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in an HSE role, preferably in roads operations and maintenance
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly those applicable to road construction and maintenance in Qatar
- Proficiency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and reporting techniques
- Strong understanding of construction safety and traffic management principles
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in MS Office suite and HSE management software
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various project sites as needed
- Knowledge of local environmental regulations in Qatar
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
- Valid Qatar driving license
