Description

The Homeland Sector within Leidos is on the lookout for a Full Stack Software Developer Lead with exceptional skills in systems, software, cloud technologies, and Agile methodologies. This role is vital for enhancing a complex program supporting the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). As a hands-on leader, you will collaborate with your team to architect, design, build, deliver, and optimize highly available, scalable, real-time systems. Your expertise will guide the best design choices based on customer objectives, timelines, and resource limitations.

  • *This position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, twice a week**

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the team’s development efforts to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to a team of three senior developers.
  • Monitor and enhance team performance; identify and resolve impediments.
  • Coordinate the execution of schedules and oversee program-wide software and architecture releases.
  • Oversee technical aspects of Program Increment (PI) Planning; assist with grooming objectives and architectural details.
  • Facilitate collaboration across teams for development, testing, and deployment.
  • Communicate project progress and program status updates to customers throughout the PI cycle.
  • Maintain application code quality and ensure compliance with the Configuration Management process.
  • Create visually appealing front-end applications and define requirements for backend APIs.
  • Champion high standards of software quality, utilizing best practices and automated testing.
  • Encourage team growth and improvement through regular feedback.
  • Collaborate with government clients to develop requirements.
  • Proactively analyze and resolve technical issues.
  • Contribute as a hands-on senior developer when necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or a Masters with 10+ years, or 4 years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation before starting.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • 8 years of hands-on experience with at least six of the following technologies: Angular, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Spring Boot, Material UI, JAVA, AWS Cloud, Amazon EKS, Ansible, GIT, Rafay, RESTful Web Services, Hibernate, and databases like Oracle, MySQL, or Postgres.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes, Agile development, and UX/UI principles.
  • Familiarity with wireframe software for effective mockup design.
  • A self-starter with strong leadership abilities, capable of working independently.
  • Knowledge of software design patterns.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, service-oriented environments, and best development practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with DevOps frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DOD Top Secret or DHS CBP Background Investigation.
  • Extensive experience as a full stack Java developer.
  • Experience with AWS, microservices, user experience, containerization, and CI/CD practices.
  • Prior involvement in AWS application development.
