Job description
As the Modern Workplace Manager, you will lead and evolve JB Hi‑Fi Group’s Modern Workplace function, shaping how technology enables people to do their best work every day.
You will be responsible for setting the strategy, operating model, and culture of the Modern Workplace team — ensuring end user experiences are seamless, secure, and reliable across our Support Office and retail network. Working closely with IT, Cyber Security, and business leaders, you will translate organisational needs into practical, scalable workplace solutions that support sustainable growth.
This role blends people leadership, platform strategy, and service excellence, with a strong focus on building capable teams, clear ways of working, and modern, secure workplace services.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and developing a high‑performing Modern Workplace team, creating an environment where people are supported to grow, learn, and deliver excellent outcomes for the business.
- Setting the strategic direction for modern workplace technologies, including endpoint management, collaboration platforms, identity, and device security — ensuring solutions are user‑centred, secure by design, and fit for scale.
- Establishing clear operating models, escalation frameworks, and service standards to ensure incidents, requests, and changes are managed effectively and sustainably.
- Overseeing the delivery of end user computing services, ensuring SLAs are met and customer experience remains a core focus.
- Partnering closely with Cyber Security, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, compliant workplace services that solve real business challenges.
- Providing technical leadership and guidance across technologies such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM/co‑managed environments, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and endpoint security — while empowering your team to own solutions and outcomes.
- Leading the organisation’s approach to software licensing, vendor relationships, and asset lifecycle management, balancing cost, risk, and user needs.
- Providing senior leadership during major incidents, working within established on‑call and escalation models to ensure effective resolution and continuous improvement.
You are a people‑centred technology leader who enjoys building capable teams and improving how technology supports day‑to‑day work. You don’t need to be the deepest expert in every tool, but you bring strong judgement, curiosity, and the ability to lead through influence.
You’ll bring many (but not necessarily all) of the following:
- Experience leading or managing a Modern Workplace, End User Computing, or similar function, with accountability for service delivery and user experience.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Modern Workplace technologies, such as Intune, Microsoft 365, SCCM/co‑managed environments, collaboration tools, and endpoint security.
- Experience overseeing or partnering with a Service Desk or support function, with a focus on service quality, prioritisation, and customer outcomes.
- Proven people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and capability development within technical teams.
- Experience working across identity, access management, device compliance, and security frameworks in a complex environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications are valued and supported, but practical leadership experience and impact are most important.
