Position: Welder
Pay: Up to $36 per hour, depending on experience

Shifts Available
- 2nd shift (2:30 pm – 10:30 pm)
- 3rd shift (10:30PM-6:30 AM)

- Reading blueprints (weld symbols)
Position Summary & Objective
The Welder will join, fabricate, and repair metal and other materials by applying appropriate techniques using various welding devices. Responsible for assembling or repairing damaged pieces of metal using machinery that emits high heat temperatures. Sets up components for welding according to specifications.
Classifications
Proficient: Must possess qualifications, skills and experience of former classification.
Novice: Able to use GTAW process.
Proficient: Fully proficient with SMAW, FCAW and SAW.
Competent: Qualified to perform SAW machine welds on both stainless and carbon steel.
Competent: Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s).
Competent: Able to produce high quality production welds.
Competent: Capable of operating gas cutting, plasma, and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications.
Competent: Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations.
Competent: Able to operate jib cranes and forklifts to facilitate positioning of weldments.
Competent: Able to make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments on same.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position
· Proficient in blueprint reading except geometric tolerancing
· Fully proficient with FCAW and SMAW
· Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s)
· Able to produce high quality welds
· Grinds parts as needed pew drawing and verbal instruction
· Capable of operating gas cutting and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications
· Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations
· Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly
· Keeps Supervisor informed of problems regarding work, piece, schedule, safety, etc. as they arise
· Able to operate jib cranes and forklifts to facilitate positioning of weldments
· Able to make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments on same

Required Education and Experience
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

· None
Environment and Working Conditions
· Indoor working conditions (outdoor as needed)
· Confined area to contain sparks and glare
· Exposure to loud noises
· Long periods of standing and sitting
· May work in a scaffold or platform off the ground
· Heavy lifting may be required at times.
Pay: Up to $36.00 per hour
