The Chief provides strategic oversight, operational leadership, and subject-matter expertise to ensure SOSi maintains a high state of readiness and can rapidly mobilize resources in support of federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local partners.

Duties:

Ensures compliance with federal logistics policies, ASPR guidelines, and emergency management standards.
  • Transportation Operations: Leads planning and execution of ground, air, and maritime transportation for SOSi personnel, equipment, and supplies. Coordinates with federal partners (e.g., FEMA, DoW, HHS), commercial carriers, and state/local agencies to secure transportation assets during activations. Develops and maintains transportation readiness plans, routing strategies, and deployment timelines.

Oversees rapid mobilization processes for incident response, ensuring timely delivery of resources to affected areas. Supports incident command structures and may serve in logistics leadership roles during activations.
  • Program Management & Strategic Planning: Develops long-term logistics strategies aligned with ERSS mission objectives and national preparedness goals. Manages budgets, contracts, and resource allocations for logistics and transportation operations. Leads continuous improvement initiatives, including after-action reviews, capability assessments, and modernization efforts.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Serves as the primary logistics liaison to federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local partners. Coordinates with SOSi logistics providers, transportation vendors, and supply chain partners. Represents ERSS and SOSi logistics interests in interagency planning meetings, exercises, and working groups.
  • Team Leadership & Workforce Development: Supervises SOSi and team logistics and transportation staff, including planners, coordinators, and field support personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, business, or related field.
  • 7 years experience in logistics, supply chain management, emergency management, or transportation operations.
