Bosch Group
Application Engineer
Salary
Job description
This role involves application and calibration responsibilities for advanced radar- and camera‑based driver assistance systems (ADAS). The ideal candidate is highly self‑driven, technically curious, and eager to engage hands‑on with vehicle‑level system behavior. You will collaborate closely with software developers, fellow application/calibration engineers, and project managers to deliver customer‑specific solutions for next‑generation ADAS technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle testing, system integration, application, validation, and requirements engineering for radar and camera‑based driver assistance functions (e.g., lateral control, road‑departure mitigation, predictive emergency braking, traffic‑sign recognition, headlight control, and autonomous driving features).
- Lead radar and camera integration activities, including debugging and troubleshooting using automotive tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, and MATLAB.
- Conduct bench and vehicle testing (public roads and test tracks).
- Calibrate radar and camera sensor algorithms using in‑vehicle and simulation/bench environments to meet objective and subjective customer and internal performance targets.
- Support feature development with emphasis on integration and system‑level behavior.
- Participate in feature reviews, focusing on system performance, robustness, and interface alignment.
- Recommend software or logic enhancements for issues not solvable through parameter tuning.
- Ensure system development, validation, and delivery in accordance with internal processes and guidelines.
- Support customer test drives and represent Bosch in technical discussions.
- Serve as the first point of contact for OEMs on application topics; prepare and deliver technical presentations.
- Conduct pre‑analysis of customer‑reported issues or defects identified during internal validation.
- Analyze in‑vehicle performance issues and propose corrective actions.
- Record and evaluate vehicle‑environment measurements for further technical assessment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or foreign equivalent).
- Valid driver’s license.
- 3+ years of experience in systems or requirements engineering and release processes within automotive applications.
- 3+ years of experience using calibration tools for embedded software/controls.
- Knowledge of driver assistance sensors and functions, with strong interest in emerging ADAS technologies.
- Hands‑on experience using Vector CANape for embedded system calibration.
- Direct experience troubleshooting embedded control systems integrated into a vehicle platform.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (additional languages a plus).
- Comfortable conducting vehicle testing on public roads and test tracks.
- Solid understanding of vehicle architecture, vehicle dynamics, and driver‑assistance interfaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Demonstrated sense of ownership, commitment, and innovative thinking.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., SCRUM, Kanban, Lean).
- Ability to work independently in a structured, organized manner; strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for collaboration with global teams and external customers.
- Flexibility to travel (approx. 4–6 weeks per year) and participate in domestic and international test drives.
- Ability to understand embedded C/C++ code or Python scripts and make minor software updates.
- Hands‑on experience conducting lab work, including sensor mounting adjustments, vehicle modifications, wiring/instrumentation (e.g., DGPS), and troubleshooting test‑equipment architectures.
Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only. Future sponsorship for work authorization unavailable.
