The Purchase Transportation Analyst is responsible for enhancing network efficiency and profitability by strategically securing purchased transportation capacity that supports Central Transport’s operational and service objectives. This role focuses on identifying and executing high‑margin truckload opportunities that improve backhaul utilization and reduce empty miles across the network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Add ongoing value to network balance by securing strategic backhaul truckload capacity aligned with daily empty lane opportunities.
  • Source and secure ad‑hoc truckload freight through third‑party load boards, including TQL, RXO, and Uber Freight, ensuring alignment with Central Transport’s service transit standards.
  • Identify high‑margin truckload opportunities that improve asset utilization and support network efficiency.
  • Manage rate‑per‑mile negotiations to ensure cost targets and margin expectations are met.
  • Coordinate closely with Central Transport operations teams to ensure seamless execution, on‑time pickup, and on‑time delivery performance.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with third‑party account analysts at TQL, RXO, and Uber Freight to manage load execution and service performance.
  • Monitor shipment execution and proactively resolve issues that may impact service reliability or network flow.
  • Utilize lane, shipment, and performance data to identify new opportunities for backhaul optimization and purchased transportation savings.
  • Track and report financial performance related to ad‑hoc truckload activity, including margin contribution and network efficiency gains.
