Description of Work

The Assistant Procurement Manager supports the Procurement Manager in overseeing all purchasing operations for the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS). This role helps ensure that all procurement activities comply with policies and procedures established by the Department of Administration (DOA) Purchasing & Contract Division, as well as applicable North Carolina General Statutes.

The selected candidate will assist in managing day-to-day procurement activities to include sourcing, bidding and contract administration. She/he will collaborate closely with procurement staff, providing guidance, reviewing work products, and helping maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance. This position also assists in managing the agency’s e-procurement operations, ensuring efficient system use and adherence to established processes. Additionally, the Assistant Procurement Manager will provide training and support to staff as needed to promote best practices and continuous improvement in procurement functions.

Recruitment Range: $70,478 - $114,000

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of program experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
