NBCUniversal
Wireless Network Manager
Salary
Job description
The Wireless Manager is responsible for the coordination, validation, and operational oversight of wireless and RF systems supporting Universal’s global Ride & Show operations. This role ensures effective spectrum coordination, coexistence, and validation for Wi-Fi, private LTE/5G, point-to-point/multipoint RF links, and other wireless technologies that enable real-time control, monitoring, and performance across attractions, facilities, and connected infrastructure.
The position requires a strong understanding of RF spectrum allocations and common use cases across cellular, ISM (900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 3.6 GHz), UNII (5/6 GHz), and private 5G bands, ensuring systems operate reliably and without harmful interference.
The role works under the direction of Parkwide Systems and in coordination with Digital & Technology, Ride & Show Network teams, and project stakeholders to validate implementations, coordinate frequency usage, and ensure compliance with operational and safety standards across complex environments.
This position supports and validates a wide range of wireless use cases including LoRaWAN, Wi-Fi HaLow, Bluetooth, Zigbee, wireless show control systems (e.g., Clear-Com, handheld devices), GNSS, and other mission-critical applications. The role includes field validation, troubleshooting (including Cellular DAS), and development of documentation defining system locations and expected coverage.
- Coordinate and manage RF spectrum usage across ride and show environments, ensuring coexistence between multiple wireless systems operating in shared and licensed bands.
- Maintain visibility of all wireless systems and their frequency allocations, including cellular DAS, ISM, UNII, and private 5G deployments.
- Work under the direction of Parkwide Systems to coordinate wireless activities across Digital & Technology, Ride & Show Network teams, and project stakeholders.
- Review and validate proposed wireless deployments to ensure compatibility, interference mitigation, and adherence to standards.
- Validate wireless system performance including coverage, interference, and reliability across attractions and facilities.
- Troubleshoot wireless and RF systems including Cellular DAS, Wi-Fi, IoT/ISM-based systems, and show communication systems.
- Maintain working knowledge of wireless technologies including LoRaWAN, Wi-Fi HaLow, Bluetooth, Zigbee, GNSS, Clear-Com, and other operational/show systems.
- Understand coexistence challenges across multiple frequency bands and technologies.
- Develop and maintain documentation detailing wireless system locations, frequency usage, and expected coverage areas.
- Produce RF coordination records, validation reports, and coverage maps.
- Identify, track, and mitigate RF interference issues across multiple systems and stakeholders.
- Support spectrum analysis and recommend corrective actions to maintain system performance.
- Support vendor and integrator activities by reviewing and validating wireless implementations against coordination and spectrum requirements.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Network/Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in RF system design, commissioning, and troubleshooting within challenging environments.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Aruba, Siemens SCALANCE, Rajant, or equivalent wireless solutions.
- Experience with wireless site surveys, heatmapping tools (Ekahau, iBwave, AirMagnet), and network monitoring platforms.
