Job description

Guzman Y Gomez is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team in Glandore, Australia. In this pivotal role, you will support the Restaurant Manager in delivering exceptional customer experiences while maintaining operational excellence.   • Lead, mentor, and support restaurant staff through effective coaching, training, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and team cohesion
  • Assist in scheduling staff shifts, ensuring adequate coverage while optimizing labor costs and maintaining operational efficiency
  • Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and on time
  • Maintain exceptional customer service standards by engaging with guests, addressing concerns promptly, and resolving issues with empathy and professionalism
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, food costs, and supplies while implementing strategies to minimize waste and maximize profitability
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety, health, and hygiene regulations, conducting regular inspections and corrective actions as needed
  • Operate and troubleshoot Point of Sale (POS) systems, process transactions, and reconcile cash drawers with transparency and accuracy
  • Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to analyze sales data, identify trends, and develop actionable strategies to drive business growth
  • Communicate clearly and transparently with team members and management regarding operational challenges, successes, and improvement opportunities
  • Support marketing initiatives and promotional activities to enhance customer engagement and brand loyalty
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment that reflects our commitment to excellence and inclusivity

**Required Qualifications:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in restaurant, food service, or hospitality management or supervisory role
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) systems and restaurant management software
  • Solid understanding of inventory management, cost control, and financial reconciliation
  • Knowledge of food safety, health codes, and hygiene compliance standards
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make decisive, sound decisions under pressure
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Experience in fast-casual dining or quick-service restaurant environments
  • Food Safety Certification or equivalent credential
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Experience with inventory management systems and analytical tools
  • Familiarity with restaurant management best practices and industry standards
  • Background in staff recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes
  • Knowledge of local Glandore market and community engagement opportunities
