Job description

Overview OSI Systems companies have a long history of developing innovative solutions to bring a better quality of life to the world. Our OSI Electronics (OSIE) division is a diversified manufacturer of electronic devices and value-added manufacturing services. We provide our customers with the manufacturing capabilities and purchasing power of a global Electronics Manufacturing Services provider. By delivering regional and personalized support best provided by a smaller company, we strive to build lasting relationships and create close and valued partnerships with our customers. Our singular focus is to help security experts, clinical professionals and high-tech developers solve real-world problems and issues. PFC Flexible Circuits Limited, a division of OSI Electronics, is seeking an AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) Operator who will be responsible for operating the AOI equipment to inspect printed circuit boards for defects and verifying conformance to customer specifications and IPC specifications. This individual will support high‑mix, precision manufacturing by ensuring the inspection program is executed correctly, the results are accurately documented, and nonconforming product is properly identified and escalated. This individual will support afternoon shift operations (4:00pm - 12:30am). ***This position offers a $0.75 per hour shift differential for second shift hours of operation (4:00 pm - 12:30 am).*** Responsibilities Operate AOI machines by loading the correct program and inspecting in‑process PCB panels for defects such as opens, shorts, under‑etch, over‑etch, pinholes, nicks, and missing features. Verify conductor patterns, trace widths and spacing, pad geometries, annular rings, and micro‑features to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and applicable IPC‑A‑600 / IPC‑6013 specification. Perform minor rework using the AOI verification unit on allowable circuitry‑related defects when authorized, following approved procedures and ensuring that all reworked areas meet specification and quality requirements. Review and evaluate AOI‑flagged findings to distinguish true defects—such as opens, shorts, over‑etch, under‑etch, missing features, or misregistration—from false calls. Update the job status and record all required information in the CIMNET shop floor management system. Complete documentation related to inspection results, ensuring accurate and timely recordkeeping. Compare and verify AOI program files against CAM files before transferring data to the AOI machine to ensure correct revision control and data integrity. Coordinate with Engineering to resolve AOI program‑related issues, including incorrect references, missing features, false‑call optimization, alignment errors, and required program updates. Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring defect trends and providing feedback to Engineering and Quality regarding AOI program performance and effectiveness. Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork. Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business. Qualifications High school diploma desired. Experience operating inspection equipment in electronics manufacturing (AOI, visual inspection, or microscope inspection) desired. Familiarity with IPC standards relevant to flex circuits (e.g., IPC-A-600, IPC-6013) and common defect modes desired. Ability to read and follow work instructions, travelers/routers, control plans, and basic engineering drawings required. Familiarity with measuring tools (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and magnification aids) and microscopes desired. Must be comfortable working with computers and navigating inspection software; basic data entry skills required. Strong attention to detail with the ability to differentiate acceptable vs. nonconforming conditions required. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards desired. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., without assistance, and move panels/fixtures safely required. Ability to stand/sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks in a production environment required. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in the business language (English). Must be a team player. OSI Systems, Inc. has three operating divisions: (a) Security, providing security and inspection systems, turnkey security screening solutions and related services; (b) Healthcare, providing patient monitoring, diagnostic cardiology and anesthesia systems; and (c) Optoelectronics and Manufacturing, providing specialized electronic components and electronic manufacturing services for original equipment manufacturers with applications in the defense, aerospace, medical and industrial markets, among others.
