Digital Platform & Integration Architect – Aon Carrier Link (Australia & New Zealand) Location Sydney, NSW (Australia & New Zealand scope) Contract Type Fixed-term contract (12 months) Extension An option to extend may be considered subject to individual performance, ongoing business requirements and funding approval. Purpose of the Role The Digital Platform & Integration Architect is responsible for defining the future-state architecture and operating model for Aon Carrier Link (ACL), Aon’s digital trading and placement platform enabling brokers and carriers to quote and bind insurance policies across Australia and New Zealand. This role is explicitly passionate about the build and planning phase. The architect will develop enterprise-aligned requirements, future-state architecture, integration patterns and commercially advised options, and will then formally hand over approved artefacts to Technology teams for delivery and execution. Scope and Context Primary platform focus on Aon Carrier Link (ACL). Geographic scope spanning Australia and New Zealand. Accountability limited to architecture, requirements, options and recommendations. Explicitly out of scope: hands-on build, delivery ownership or operational support. Senior role operating through complexity and challenging incumbent technology positions constructively. Stakeholder Engagement The role will work closely with senior partners across: Broking and placement teams Carrier and market engagement teams Product, platform and data analytics teams Enterprise Architecture and Technology leadership The successful candidate will be comfortable facilitating workshops, navigating ambiguity and aligning varied interested party priorities into a coherent architectural outcome. Key Responsibilities & Encouraged Outputs 1. Current-State Assessment & Gap Analysis Conduct a structured assessment of ACL and its surrounding ecosystem across Australia and New Zealand, including architecture, integrations, data flows and platform dependencies. Identify technical debt, legacy constraints, architectural risks and compliance considerations, including data privacy and audit requirements. Key Output: Detailed current-state architecture and ecosystem view with clearly articulated gaps. 2. Enterprise & Commercial Requirements Definition Engage stakeholders across broking, carrier engagement, product, platform, data and technology teams to capture commercial, operational, technical and user experience requirements. Translate these into enterprise-aligned functional, non-functional and integration requirements, explicitly articulating value drivers. Key Output: Consolidated requirements' document grounded in enterprise value and technical feasibility. 3. Future-State Architecture & Platform Vision Define a future-state architecture for ACL from functional, technical and commercial perspectives. Design API-first integration patterns enabling interoperability with internal Aon platforms and external third-party platforms. Consider opportunities for AI and machine learning to improve workflows, insights and user experience. Key Output: Future-state platform architecture and vision for ACL. 4. Options, Trade-offs & Commercial Feasibility Develop and assess architectural and delivery options, evaluating trade-offs across time, cost, risk, complexity and scalability. Provide clear recommendations supported by commercial and technical analysis. Key Output: Options analysis with clearly defined business and technical trade-offs. High-level cost–benefit assessment. 5. Delivery Roadmap & Handover Define a high-level delivery roadmap, sequencing assumptions, indicative timelines and resource requirements. Prepare architecture artefacts suitable for formal handover to Technology delivery teams. Key Output: Delivery-ready architecture and roadmap pack for execution handover. Skills & Experience Required Crucial Typically demonstrated ability in enterprise, platform or solution architecture roles Proven experience designing future‑state digital platforms in sophisticated enterprise environments Strong integration architecture capability (API‑led, platform ecosystems) Ability to translate commercial and operational needs into clear architectural outcomes Proven track record to operate in ambiguity and challenge incumbent positions constructively Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across business and technology Desirable Experience in insurance, financial services or risk‑based industries Exposure to digital trading, quote & bind or placement platforms Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) Understanding of AI / ML concepts applied to workflow, analytics or decisioning How we support our colleagues In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage an inclusive workforce.
