The Systems Administrator I, under general direction, performs routine systems administration support functions. Work hours are Monday to Friday 8AM - 5PM or as work requirements indicate. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Responsibilities:

• 15% Installs, upgrades, and configures server hardware and software. Assists with the design and implementation of server systems.

• 10% Assists with the installation and configuration of network file servers and hardware. Completes server testing and application. Conducts basic server performance analyses and tuning.

• 10% Creates programs for automating system administration.

• 20% Helps analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems. Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and software for servers. Troubleshoots and repairs configuration problems and assists with troubleshooting network problems. Provides Tier I support and assists with Tier II support.

• 5% Assists with recommendations, specifications, and plans for server hardware and software purchases.

• 10% Documents server support methods, procedures, and configuration.

• 15% Assists with new technology deployments and system integration testing.

• 10% Monitors and maintains system security and provides backup, protection, and recovery support for client data.

• 5% Assists with the evaluation of new technologies to determine their applicability to clients’ needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Two years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting, client relations, formulating and contributing ideas, and the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL).

• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Salary Range:

The target base annual salary range is $49,000 up to $51,500 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
