Burrangiri Lodge is a 15 bed Aged Care Respite Centre with an attached week daytime Day Centre, located in Rivett, ACT, 2611. Our operations cater specifically to aged care clients from the Canberra region.
Built 32 years ago as a purpose built site for respite care for Canberrans; we are here to facilitate early discharge from hospital or to prevent admissions where we can by providing a safe and supported care facility for temporary care and to facilitate carer relief for a day or a block of time.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsible to the Director of Nursing and through the DON to the Manager for the provision of internal and external general domestic cleaning and hygiene; minor maintenance items; relocation and set out of furnishings, stowage of stores, and porterage of client luggage, as required; servicing of the fishpond; and other similar duties as directed from time to time. You will play a key role in the maintenance and cleanliness of our facility which will make a real difference to residents' quality of life.
In the role of the Cleaner at the Salvation Army, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- General Cleaning of internal and external spaces in the center including but not limited to kitchen areas, patio areas, floored areas, fixtures and utility room.
- Fishpond is to be checked daily and to ensure sufficient water filled to require level. Feeding fish as per requirement, twice a day.
- Porterage of client's personal effects will be requested by RN, Reception, and other senior staff.
- Preparation of order for cleaning material monthly, and safe storage of same.
- Storage of stores will be requested by the cook, RN, Reception and other senior staff from time to time.
- Minor maintenance, including the replacement of light bulbs and florescent tubes, tightening loose screws, cupboard and draw handles and the like and similar tasks. More complicated maintenance items are to be written up in the Maintenance Book. Urgent maintenance to be reported to the Centre Manager or Office Manager.
- Garden maintenance: Pull weeds, sweep, pick up leaves, water, general garden maintenance as required.
- Periodic Cleaning, including carpet shampooing, cleaning of vents and fans.
- Review cleaning methods and schedules and consult with the Center Manager suggesting ways and means to better efficiency.
- Maintain a good rapport with clients and carers, have due regard for their privacy. Redirecting confused/dementing clients as required.
