Job description
We are currently looking for a Software Engineering Developer to join our Packaging and Deployment Team. The Packaging and Deployment team has a mandate to support the creating, testing and maintaining of Zero Touch Installations (ZTI), Light Touch Installations (LTI), automated deployment solutions. As a member of the team, you will play a key role in both planning and executing this work.
Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Participate in technical reviews.
- Assist in planning and estimating future work.
- Utilize your development or scripting skills to automate task sequences and reduce turnaround times for development or deployment of products.
- Maintain and expand automated test frameworks and write automated tests.
- Work closely with more experienced Packaging test team members to develop test-based skills, and gain familiarity with the technology under test.
- Work closely with the Packaging development team to define requirements, develop, and review use cases and design.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, with a focus on test artifacts such as test plans and test cases.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvements.
- Engage with customer representatives, vendors, and other department staff.
- Support the execution of test cases, and coordinate with development team and other stakeholders to assess testing results.
- Write system problem reports on issues encountered during test execution.
- Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Applied Science or related technical/scientific degree.
- 2+ years of applicable experience
- Proficient in software development using one or more Object Oriented Languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
- Scripting experience (ideally with PowerShell).
- Experience in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of complex system issues, with the ability to understand the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems.
- Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work effectively both independently and in a highly collaborative team environment
- Ability to describe technical subject material effectively to non-technical audiences.
Assets to have but not required:
- Experience with configuration and deployment of Microsoft Server OS, Windows OS and VMware with a working understanding of networking.
- Experience with Microsoft System Center family of components, such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
- Experience with automated testing on a Windows environment, and DevOps.
- Experience with automation and configuration management using Ansible.
- Experience with virtualization and VMware products.
- Experience with workflow tracking tools such as Jira, IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) or IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM)
- Experience with Revision Control systems such as Git or Artifactory.
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
The hiring range for this position is $75,000-$91,000. Our goal is to provide a fair and competitive offer based on an assessment of internal equity and your qualifications, including:
