Job description

Position Overview: We are looking for an innovative Principal Electrical Engineer with a passion for cutting-edge power solutions. In this role, you will design, develop, and validate power conversion, power control, and system communication products that drive technology forward. Your expertise will play a critical role in developing next-generation systems and supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through production.

Work Performed

  • Manage and develop customized power conversion products based on customer specifications - including AC/DC rectifiers, DC/DC converters, DC/AC inverters, and system controllers - from conception to completion.
  • Collaborate closely with Program Management and cross-functional departments such as purchasing, sales, marketing, and manufacturing to ensure projects meet quality standards and technical objectives.
  • Lead the technical responsibilities of electrical engineering projects, including design, development, testing, and manufacturing of electrical products and systems.
  • Generate specifications for new R&D products and ensure alignment with customer and performance requirements.
  • Use analytical tools such as PSpice and MathCAD to conceptualize and validate design approaches.
  • Prepare schematic diagrams, BOM part lists, and technical documentation.
  • Participate on project teams alongside mechanical and process engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Develop and maintain component stress documentation charts, MTBF analyses, and DFMEA reports.
  • Collaborate with technicians and perform hands-on debugging and testing of prototypes.
  • Develop Design Verification Test procedures and assist with execution and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate directly with customers to confirm design alignment with intended application and performance goals.
  • Mentor junior engineering team members, providing guidance on technology, best practices for design-for-manufacturability (DFM), and professional development.

Other Relevant Experience / Training

  • High-frequency magnetic component design.
  • Deep understanding of EMC design best practices and experience troubleshooting EMC issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of components used in switch-mode power supply design.
  • Experience with agency compliance standards (UL, CSA, VDE, CE).
  • Strong understanding of designing for testability and manufacturability.
  • Experience designing microcontroller-based systems to report and control power electronics.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive projects to completion on time and within scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 8+ years of experience in power electronics and switch-mode power supply design.
  • Proficiency in PSpice, Mathcad, and familiarity with relevant compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
