CoAspire (https://www.coaspire.com) is a cutting-edge defense manufacturing leader in Northern Virginia, specializing in the precision assembly of advanced weapons systems. With over twelve years of a legacy of innovation, we're at the forefront of building reliable, affordable mass weapons that protect and empower our nation’s warfighters. Our tight-knit team thrives in a collaborative environment where safety, quality, and work-life balance come first with a focus on professional growth at our new 27,000+ sq. ft. facility. Join us to make a tangible impact on mission-critical technology while enjoying Northern Virginia's vibrant community.
Position: You will serve as a Senior Electrical Engineering Lead, playing a critical role in leading, organizing, and guiding the electrical engineering and avionic efforts for our advanced missile and weapons systems. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will spend the majority of your time (approximately 60-75%) coordinating technical teams, managing tasking, resolving issues, ensuring quality and consistency across deliverables, and reporting progress to leadership. You will use your remaining time to contribute technically where needed. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, program management, and multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure the electrical design, integration, and verification efforts are efficient, well-organized, and aligned with program goals and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a team of electrical engineers: assign and prioritize tasks, track progress, resolve technical blockers, conduct design reviews, and maintain alignment across work products.
- Organize and manage the electrical engineering workflow, including requirements flow-down, interface control, integration planning, and verification activities.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight without owning all detailed design work; step in to support complex issues or key deliverables as needed.
- Prepare and deliver regular technical status reports, presentations, and updates for internal leadership, program management, and external customers.
- Ensure adherence to engineering processes, quality standards, configuration management, and applicable aerospace/military standards.
- Facilitate collaboration across disciplines to resolve integration issues and support overall system development and testing.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and mission focus.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering for aerospace, defense, or complex weapons systems, with demonstrated progression into technical leadership roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and delivery successful results - organizing work, managing priorities, conducting reviews, and delivering results through others.
- Strong experience with electrical system architecture, circuit design, power systems, harnesses, and avionics/embedded systems in a defense context.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and reporting skills with the ability to translate technical status for both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and background-screening requirements.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented, fast-paced environment with a focus on mission success and continuous improvement.
Desired Skills
- Prior experience as a Technical Lead, Deputy Chief Engineer, or similar role in a defense contractor environment.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience supporting integration, test, or flight test activities for missile or weapons systems.
- Proficiency with common EE tools and strong problem-solving skills.
Beyond competitive pay, we offer
- Full benefits from day one: medical, dental and vision
- 401(k) with generous company match and immediate vesting
