Associate Director – Fundraising (USA Focus, Indian Diaspora)

Location: United States (remote; preference for East Coast / NY-NJ area or Indian-American hubs)
Type: Full-time, Exempt, part time Position Summary
Lead US fundraising with emphasis on the Indian diaspora to support Swasthgram Global Foundation’s preventive healthcare, health camps, and rural wellness programs in India and globally. Ensure all activities comply with US nonprofit regulations while enabling tax-deductible giving and legal fund flows to India under FCRA. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute fundraising strategy targeting Indian diaspora (high-net-worth individuals, family foundations, tech/healthcare professionals, and community networks).
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts, grants, and corporate partnerships.
- Organize participation in diaspora events and networks (e.g., Indiaspora, TiE, India Giving Day).
- Prepare compelling proposals and impact reports with strong storytelling tied to “giving back to India.”
- US Nonprofit Compliance: Manage state charitable solicitation registrations, ensure IRS-compliant tax-deductible structures (via fiscal sponsorship, Expenditure Responsibility, or Equivalency Determination), maintain donor records, and coordinate with legal counsel for FCRA compliance in India (designated accounts, reporting, utilization rules).
- Track metrics in CRM and collaborate with India team across time zones. Qualifications
- 7+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with proven success in six- and seven-figure gifts.
- Strong track record engaging Indian diaspora donors and knowledge of US-India cross-border giving.
- Solid understanding of US nonprofit compliance: IRS 501(c)(3) rules, state registrations (40+ states), Form 990, Expenditure Responsibility / Equivalency Determination, and India’s FCRA requirements.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and proposal-writing skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. Cultural fluency and travel willingness (10-20%, including India) essential.
