About the Role
A seed-to-table food company that develops and sells organic vegetable varieties through both home garden seeds and branded produce in grocery stores is hiring a Customer Marketing Manager. The company was co-founded by a James Beard Award-winning chef and works at the intersection of plant breeding, agriculture, and culinary innovation. Its products are sold direct to consumers online and through retail grocery accounts nationwide, with a ready-to-eat vegetable line launched in early 2026.
This role bridges the gap between brand story and retail shelf. The Customer Marketing Manager will own the annual shopper marketing strategy, build retailer-specific marketing plans, manage co-marketing programs and retail media, and develop the full suite of in-store and digital shelf content. It is a hands-on execution role that reports to the company's President. The right candidate is equally comfortable building a retailer sell-in deck, optimizing a paid media plan on Instacart, and being on-site for a store activation.
What the Role Covers
- Developing and owning the annual customer marketing strategy, identifying key moments, accounts, and shopper audiences
- Building retailer-specific marketing plans that align with each account's promotional calendar and the company's brand goals
- Translating brand positioning and product stories into shopper-relevant messaging for the retail environment
- Developing and managing retailer co-marketing programs across digital and print media, in-store signage, seasonal campaigns, and brand moments
- Owning the customer marketing budget and activation calendar, tracking spend and reporting on program performance
- Leading retail media strategy across key accounts and platforms (Instacart, retailer e-commerce, sponsored placements)
- Ensuring digital shelf presence (images, copy, content) is accurate, optimized, and consistent across all retail accounts
- Developing shopper-facing materials in collaboration with the sales team: shelf signage, packaging callouts, seasonal POS, and on-shelf storytelling
- Building and maintaining a library of current, on-brand retail assets for the sales team
- Partnering with sales to build category and brand narratives, sell-in materials, new item presentations, and category stories grounded in shopper data
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in shopper marketing, customer marketing, or retail marketing in food or CPG (natural or specialty food experience strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of the grocery retail landscape and how shoppers engage with products in produce or perishables
- Experience developing retailer marketing programs and co-marketing activations with major grocery accounts
- Comfort using retail media metrics, syndicated data, and retailer POS data to inform strategy
- Experience managing a marketing budget and measuring program ROI
- Strong creative eye with the ability to brief, guide, and evaluate marketing assets
- Strong project management skills
- Proficiency in Google Sheets and PowerPoint; familiarity with Instacart Ads, retailer media platforms, or digital shelf tools is a plus
- Genuine enthusiasm for food, agriculture, and mission-driven work
