Job description
Provide technical expertise and project leadership in this Senior Electrical Engineer role, contributing to the winning, management, and delivery of moderate to large-scale building services projects. You will be responsible for supporting project delivery performance across time, cost, quality, and safety outcomes while strengthening client relationships and contributing to business growth.
There is some flexibility on location for this role and whilst our first preference would be Wellington we are open to considering candidates in Auckland and Hamilton too.
You will work across multidisciplinary teams in New Zealand and Australia, contributing to high-profile and technically complex projects in sectors such as healthcare, aviation, and major infrastructure. You will also support proposals, presentations, and opportunity development to help win new work and grow AECOM’s Building Services capability.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of building services projects, ensuring outcomes meet scope, quality, time, safety, and budget requirements.
- Support and/or lead project management activities including planning, coordination, resource management, risk management, and delivery tracking across multiple projects.
- Assist in preparing proposals, scopes, and presentations to support winning and expanding client work.
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, contributing to repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality engineering solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to innovation, continuous improvement, and implementation of best practice across project delivery.

- A relevant tertiary qualification in electrical engineering or similar.
- 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering (building services would be advantageous)
- Experience across a range of electrical engineering project types.
- Experience in healthcare projects would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to or managing projects, with the ability to handle multiple priorities, timelines and stakeholders.
- Ideally working towards Chartered (CPEng) status.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Understanding of New Zealand building services standards and codes, or the ability to adapt from comparable international environments.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery requirements within a consulting environment.
