Job description

Reporting to the SVP, Strategy & Growth, the Montreal Area Metro Lead is responsible for driving market visibility, client engagement, and strategic growth across the Greater Montreal Area. This role serves as AECOM’s senior market-facing leader, accountable for positioning the firm with key municipalities, agencies, and decision‑makers, and for translating market intelligence into sustainable opportunity pipelines across all technical practices.

The role focuses on early engagement, relationship development, and market shaping, connecting AECOM’s technical capabilities to the region’s most significant infrastructure, mobility, and urban development priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Leadership & Growth Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of AECOM’s Montreal metropolitan market strategy, aligned with regional and national growth objectives and across all AECOM business lines.
  • Establish AECOM as a trusted advisor and visible partner across priority public‑sector clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and shape opportunities arising from major capital programs, policy shifts, funding announcements, and political or governance changes.
  • Translate market intelligence into clear pursuit priorities, capture strategies, and investment recommendations.

Priority Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with key municipalities and agencies, including the City of Montréal, ARTM, STM, CDPQ Infra, Ville de Laval, Agglomération de Longueuil, and other regional and provincial entities, while continuing to expand AECOM’s reach across the broader metropolitan area.
  • Engage with elected officials, agency executives, senior public servants, and industry leaders to understand evolving priorities and position AECOM early.
  • Represent AECOM at industry forums, municipal and agency briefings, and professional associations to strengthen brand presence and credibility.
  • Support complex stakeholder environments by aligning technical solutions with political, operational, and community considerations.

Opportunity Development & Capture Support

  • Lead market shaping and pre‑positioning activities for large, multi‑year programs and strategic pursuits.
  • Partner with business development, marketing, and pursuit teams to define compelling win strategies that respond to client drivers such as delivery certainty, constructability, risk management, and value.
  • Enable cross‑business line collaboration to bring integrated, multi‑disciplinary solutions to clients.
  • Support proposal development by providing client insight, strategic narrative, and executive‑level messaging.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as a unifying market leader across transportation, buildings, water, environment, and advisory businesses
  • Mentor and support regional business development and client service professionals to strengthen market capability and succession.
  • Work closely with project delivery leaders to reinforce client satisfaction, repeat work, and long‑term account growth.
  • Share lessons learned and market insights to continuously improve pursuit effectiveness and market responsiveness.

Performance & Accountability

  • Support market‑level revenue growth, pipeline development, and booking targets.
  • Track and report on opportunity development, pursuit outcomes, and engagement effectiveness.
  • Contribute to disciplined pursuit investment and resource alignment decisions.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in market leadership, business development, or senior client‑facing roles within the AEC industry.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain senior‑level client relationships in complex public‑sector environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the Montreal metropolitan region as required.
  • Bi-lingual (French/English)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Montreal‑area municipal, regional, and provincial markets, including governance, funding, and procurement environments.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in politically and stakeholder‑intensive settings.
  • Excellent communication, influence, and presentation skills at executive and elected‑official levels.
  • Experience supporting major, multi‑disciplinary pursuits and long‑term capital programs.
