Job description
Electrical Engineer
High-rise & Complex Buildings | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
What if every building you powered was designed to perform smarter from day one?
As Electrical Engineer within our High-Rise & Complex Buildings team in Malaysia, you will take ownership of electrical systems design across a varied portfolio of building projects — from medium and low voltage distribution to ELV, security and vertical transportation. You will work closely with engineers across disciplines, manage the full design cycle from concept through to site, and contribute to a team that sets the standard for integrated building services delivery across Asia.
High-rise buildings, done well, are one of the most powerful tools we have for building sustainable, liveable cities. With more than 300 tall building projects globally, our High-rise & Complex Buildings team integrates structural, MEP, facade, digital and sustainability expertise from concept to completion, because the relationship between a building’s structure and its services is where real value is won or lost. Data-driven, computationally advanced, and benchmarked against decades of global experience, we design with purpose for the people and cities that need these buildings to perform for generations. If you want work that genuinely challenges you, this is where you come.
The role
As Electrical Engineer within our High-Rise & Complex Buildings team, you will be responsible for the full electrical design lifecycle across a varied portfolio of building projects in Malaysia. From early-stage concept through to site completion, you will design and specify complex electrical systems, manage the tender and contract administration process, and work closely with engineers across other disciplines to deliver coordinated, high-quality outcomes.
This is a role for someone who takes ownership of their work from drawing board to commissioning, and who wants to see the direct impact of their engineering in the built environment.
How you will contribute
Electrical systems design
- Design and specify electrical systems for buildings, including 33kV and 11kV medium voltage systems, 400V LV systems, emergency power supply, single line diagrams, lighting and small power, earthing and lightning protection, telecommunications infrastructure, ELV systems, security systems and vertical transportation systems
- Prepare design-related documents including design calculations, design briefs, technical drawings and authority submissions
- Collaborate with engineers across other disciplines, clients’ project teams and external consultants to coordinate and detail project design requirements
- Undertake other duties as assigned from time to time
Tender and contract management
- Manage the tender process, including cost estimations, tender documents, technical specifications, tender evaluation and tender reporting
- Manage contract administration in accordance with PAM or IEM contracts, including construction monitoring and site supervision
Site and coordination
- Attend technical meetings, review contractor’s technical submissions, witness key testing / commissioning activities.
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and registration as a Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)
- At least 2 years of building design experience in a multidisciplinary or M&E consultancy firm
- Familiarity with Malaysian building legislation, Malaysia Standards, regulations, Codes of Practice, local council requirements, ST requirements, TNB guidelines, and authority submission guidelines and processes
- A positive work attitude and a genuine willingness to learn
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in high-rise and complex buildings is preferred
- Candidates with more extensive experience and deeper technical knowledge will be considered for more senior positions
