Job description

The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring temporary/on-call Public Space Custodians at The Morris Inn in our campus Hospitality departmentThe UOES division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations.

The Morris Inn is a AAA Four Diamond Hotel and sits at the heart of Notre Dame’s storied campus. It continues to be the “living room” of the University of Notre Dame where guests will find the perfect atmosphere in which to enjoy a business lunch, family gathering, special occasion or a casual meal.

Custodian

The Custodian at the Morris Inn is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the hotel’s common areas. This role involves both routine custodial duties and support for events hosted at the facility. Ideal candidates will be dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent service in a hospitality setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform daily cleaning duties, including vacuuming carpeted areas, sweeping, dusting, mopping hard surface floors, and restroom maintenance.

  • Clean and maintain mirrors, ledges, window sills, interior glass, stainless steel, and other surfaces.
  • Perform thorough cleaning of the hotel restaurant (Rohr’s)
  • Spot clean walls, doors, vents, light fixtures, water fountains, chalk/marking boards, and other surfaces in all common areas.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of interior and exterior entryways, exits, and stairwells.
  • Remove trash and recycling and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed.
  • Support event operations by maintaining assigned areas before, during, and after events.
  • Respond promptly to real-time needs and special cleaning requests.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily and event-specific cleaning goals.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Capable of working independently and staying productive with minimal supervision.
  • Dependable and punctual, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and game days.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and chemical safety is a plus.

Pay Rate: $17.50/hr
