How you’ll make an impact: As a Junior Backend Engineer - Internship , you will join a highly skilled engineering team building scalable, production-grade backend systems that power real-world audio and advertising platforms used by millions of users globally. You will contribute to products such as Simplecast , a podcast management and distribution platform, working on systems that help creators publish, manage, and monetize their content at scale. You will work on Java-based microservices, contribute to web applications and RESTful APIs, and gain hands-on experience with modern backend architectures and cloud-native systems. From day one, your work will have real impact, with the opportunity to see your contributions deployed and used in production. You will be mentored by senior engineers and architects, gaining exposure to industry best practices in software design, scalability, and distributed systems, while growing your technical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment. What you’ll do: Contribute to the design and development of backend services using Java and Spring Boot Build and enhance RESTful APIs used by internal and external systems Work within a microservices architecture in a cloud-based environment Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver features end-to-end Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices Participate in code reviews and learn modern development workflows Work with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and understand data modeling fundamentals Debug, troubleshoot, and improve system performance and reliability What you'll need: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field Basic knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming Understanding of web development fundamentals and REST APIs Familiarity with databases (relational or NoSQL) Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment Good English communication skills (written and spoken) Nice to have: Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar frameworks Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS is a plus) Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines Knowledge of Git and version control workflows Our goal at SiriusXM is to provide and maintain a work environment that fosters mutual respect, professionalism, and cooperation.
