We are now looking for a Supplier Quality and Sustainability Manager. This position will be located in Changshu, China.

What you’ll do

  • Drive and develop a robust, long‑term supplier management framework within the Specialty Materials Business Area, including continuous development of sourcing processes
  • Act as the key liaison between sourcing & procurement, suppliers, and internal stakeholders on supplier management, sustainability, and quality, ensuring that expectations are consistently met for all purchased products and services
  • Be an active member of the global Supplier Quality and Sustainability team, leading and developing the supplier management strategy in Specialty Materials through supplier categorization, segmentation, and risk management
  • Deliver effective Supplier Management and Supplier Performance Management in close collaboration with category sourcing, achieving measurable value creation such as innovation, supply chain resilience, sustainability improvements, and cost savings
  • Participate in new supplier selection through structured and robust supplier qualification processes
  • Define, plan, and execute supplier audits (including EcoVadis, TfS, etc.) to ensure compliance with business requirements; provide relevant data and reporting, and manage supplier corrective actions and deviations through to closure
  • Lead supplier performance management through KPIs and structured development plans; analyse performance data to identify improvement opportunities together with category sourcing teams
  • Drive continuous improvement in sustainability performance by developing supplier capabilities and leading initiatives such as the –30 by 30 program and Scope 3 decarbonization agenda across the value chain, with a particular focus on building expertise in APAC
  • Act as a regional TfS (Together for Sustainability) team member in APAC
  • Ensure ethical and sustainable conduct at all times, demonstrating UPM values in all activities

Who you are

  • You have bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline
  • You have minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supplier management, preferably within the materials or chemicals‑related industry
  • You have strong understanding of regional risks, human rights, and the sustainability landscape
  • You are highly collaborative, with the ability to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders effectively
  • You have strong presentation and communication skills; comfortable presenting to diverse and senior audiences
  • You have international experience within a multinational company, combined with solid business acumen
  • You have logical and analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data and drive fact‑based decisions
  • You have excellent relationship‑building and strategic partnering capabilities
  • You are fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese
