Selkirk Sport is looking for a detail-oriented Soft Goods Product Developer based in Malaysia to join our growing Accessories team. Working directly under the Head Designer of Accessories, you will play a critical role in the technical development, prototyping, and production of world-class pickleball bags and accessories. You will be the technical bridge between our creative vision in the US and our manufacturing excellence in the region.
Why Join Selkirk Sport?
- Lead brand design for the #1 brand in pickleball—an industry on the rise.
- Work on high-impact projects seen by millions.
- Collaborate with a fast-moving, innovative brand design team.
- Enjoy a high-energy work environment where your ideas shape the future of the sport.
- Competitive salary, benefits, and opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Execution: Transform creative concepts and sketches into detailed, factory-ready Tech Packs (including BOMs, construction details, and material callouts).
- Design Support: Assist the Head Designer in the development of soft goods (backpacks, duffles, totes, and other accessories). Use an Industrial Design lens to generate concepts and solve functional problems.
- Prototyping & Sampling: Manage the sample review process locally. Conduct initial quality checks on prototypes and communicate feedback clearly to the US design team.
- Material Sourcing: Collaborate with regional suppliers to source innovative fabrics, hardware, and trims that align with Selkirk’s premium brand standards.
- Project Management: Ensure design timelines are met by staying in close contact with production partners and providing weekly status updates.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 3-5 years in soft goods design (bags/luggage) or technical apparel.
- Software Mastery: Expert level in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop). Experience with CLO 3D or Blender is a major plus and will be part of your growth path.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of bag construction, stitch types, and textile performance.
- Communication: Fluent in English (written and verbal). Ability to handle direct critique and iterate on designs quickly to meet market needs.
- Mindset: A "finisher" who is scrappy, fails fast to find solutions, and prioritizes getting high-quality products to market over perfection.
